The mountainous character of the landscape ofArmenia conditioned the dependence of all cultures developing within its territory from mountains/rocks/artificial cavities,which is reflected in architectural principles, worldview and generally in development of various cultures of the region.Cave dwellings/burials/sanctuaries, rock-cut sacred paths, rock stairs, rock inscriptions, rock-cut tunnels, stone doors are themain forms of expression of corresponding units. Research of rock-cut structures and their environments in the ArmenianHighland allows considering them and levels of their abstract perception in general cultural developments of the region as aninvariant feature
